Christ’ Death Was Not a Waste!

26. March 2013 Galatians 0

Text: Galatians 2:19-21
Theme: If we depend on the law, then Christ died for nothing.
Key verses: “The law has provided the means to end my dependence on it for righteousness Now I have found freedom to truly live for GOd. I have been crucified with the Liberating King–I am no longer alive–but the Liberator is living in me…I can’t dismiss God’s grace, and I won’t. If being right with God depends on how we measure up to the law, then the Liberating King’s sacrifice on the cross was the most tragic waste in all of history!” (v. 19-21)
What God said to me: My son didn’t die in vain. His death was necessary for you to have life. Be very careful not to lean on your own righteousness, which are but filthy rags in my eyes. Only my son’s blood can atone for your sins, Dwayne. Consider yourself dead to your old ways and your own will. Recognize and embrace how you died in Christ and now live again because He lives. Your entire life is entirely encompassed and engulfed in His. That’s why without Him you can do nothing. So why do you ever try? Don’t let my son’s death be a waste in your life. Claim His forgiveness, His mediation, His death and resurrection, and His mighty power. They are all yours to enjoy and demonstrate. Look today for an opportunity to share this with someone you come across.
What I said to God: Thank you Lord for speaking to me and meeting with me this morning. I love these moments in Your Word and in Your holy presence. Please forgive my specific sins (you and know what they are). Fill me today with Your Holy Spirit. I look forward to sharing my faith with someone today. No, Your death is certainly not a waste. It has brought me and so many others life and joy and rest and peace! Thank You for that.
