Faith Crosses the Bridge
Text: Galatians 3:10-14
Theme: Our faith in Christ connects us with Abraham’s promise.
Key verses: “Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, ‘The righteous will live by faith'” (v. 11). “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us…He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit” (v. 13-14).
What God said to me: Dwayne, you really have no idea the depth and significance of what you just read. Everything you have and all the peace you enjoy comes to you because of the bridge my Son provided you. You are a Gentile. You are not part of my Israel. Yet you are part of my chosen ones, because Jesus was willing to be cursed on a tree; He was willing and obedient to take on your sin and take your place in death. When you trusted Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, your faith–the faith that I gave to you–crossed the proverbial bridge from death to eternal life. No matter how much book smarts you may get, no matter what else you may discover from my Word and from your life experiences, don’t ever stray from this simple and foundational truth: It’s all because of Calvary.
What I said to God: Thank You, Heavenly Father, for reminding me in no uncertain terms of the tremendous gift of Your Son. Thank You and praise You for loving me so much as to send Your Son to die in my stead. Thank You for the faith to believe and trust. Thank You for the promise of Abraham that you graciously extended to all peoples and nations. Thank You for Calvary and for the blood Jesus shed. What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. This is all my hope and peace. This is all my righteousness. Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
