Lawbreakers Without Jail Time

02. January 2014 Galatians 0

Text: Galatians 3:21-25
Theme: Faith in Christ has freed us from prison to sin.
Key Verses: “But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe. Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith” (v. 22-24).
What God said to me: Dwayne, this is a deep and powerful truth. It is the foundation of your salvation and peace. The law could never have provided you eternal life and joy and fulfillment. What you enjoy now in your relationship with me came through the faith that I placed in your heart when you were but a child. It was my grace that foreknew and predestined you to be one of my children and heirs. It was my grace that called you and melted your heart to trust in me. It was and is my grace that keeps you free from sin and bondage. You have broken my laws a thousand times, but yet you’ve served no jail time. I took your punishment when I died on the cross. You are free indeed. Rejoice in that.
What I said to God: Thank You, most worthy and awesome God. I am amazed at Your grace and mercy on me. You know me, and yet You still love me. Please open my eyes to those around me today who do not know You, who need to be set free from their captivity to sin and to Satan. I have the key. I know the truth. Please help me share You boldly and love others deeply.
