New Covenant
Text: Hebrews 10:15-22
Theme: God’s new covenant w/us means heart-change & Throne-access
Key verses: “‘This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.’Then he says, ‘I will never again remember their sins and lawless deeds”(v. 16-17). “…we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened an new and living way…And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him” (v. 19b-22a).
What God said to me: Good morning, Dwayne! So good to meet with you and you with me this Monday morning. Remember today that you are my Son, my chosen one, my beloved, my sheep and my tree. I planted you, gave you deep roots and rich soil through a godly heritage. I have invested into you for many years and protected and guided you through many dangers, toils and snares. You have already come so far, my son. Never forget that I love you more than you love yourself and more than you could ever imagine. I have called you to go and make disciples, to share my message with a lost and dying world, to use your talents and gifts to do my work on your earth. I have put my law in your heart and written it on your mind. I have drawn you with my everlasting love. You are mine. I have given you access directly into my throne room. You always dwell in my presence because I am always in you, and you can come commune with me and worship me anytime you please. I hope that will be very often. Like David, seven times daily you should praise me. Draw near to me, Dwayne, and I will draw near to you. Make the effort to abide with me, sup with me, and worship me. Stop for a long moment and process the truth revealed in this passage: You can come boldly into my presence. You have been granted access into the throne-room of the King of kings and Lord of lords. Never, ever take that blessed privilege for granted. I am your God, and I am also your Father and friend.
What I said to God: Holy and precious, loving Father and best friend, You are my Source for life, health and strength. You have become to me wisdom, righteousness, holiness and redemption. I cannot fathom the love You have for mankind that You would send Your only Son to die in our place. And to think You would allow–much less invite–us into Your awesome presence to commune with You is beyond our ability to comprehend. Thank You for Your new covenant. Thank You that You don’t treat us as our sins deserve. Thank You that you have pity on us, even as a father has compassion on his children. You remember we are but dust, and You have provided a new and better and living way through the blood Jesus spilled for us. He is our righteousness, our holiness, our redemption. Jesus is our wisdom! What an incredible truth and encouraging word today. Please help live in light of such knowledge, knowledge that is too wonderful for me for to absorb.
