Endure(d)
Text: Hebrews 12:1-4
Theme: We each have a race to endure.
Key verses: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus…Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Think of the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up” (v. 1-3).
What God said to me: Son, I have marked out a specific race for you to run. It doesn’t look like other’s races, and you shouldn’t compare your race in life with any one else’s. You can only endure and finish if you 1) cast off sins, 2) run on your path, and 3) look to Jesus constantly. Dwayne, what lies ahead for you is more difficult than anything you have faced in your past. Remember what I’ve shown you today, and finish your race well–by my grace.
What I said to God: Holy Father, you hold all my days in Your hands. I cling to You and trust You. Help me trust You more and more.
