Heavenly Redemption
Text: Hebrews 9:11-12
Theme: Christ secured our redemption in heaven, far above earthly things.
Key verses: “But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption” (v. 11-12 NIV).
What God said to me: Son, here you sit in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. I have given you a day of rest amidst your packed schedule of conferences and traveling. This is a gift. I am glad you are making the most of it by investing focused time with me. You can only give out to others when your own fountain and heart is full. My Word is your refreshment, your guide, your wisdom, your encouragement, your admonishment and instruction. This passage should lift your eyes above your earthly circumstances and thoughts. When Jesus said, “It is finished,” he had done all he needed to do on earth to secure your redemption. However, your soul could only be bought back from the enemy by Jesus entering the Most Holy Place in heaven. There was nothing on earth that could suffice to purchase your redemption. There was no human creation, no tabernacle made by human hands that could handle his perfect blood. He came into my very throne room and offered his own precious blood for your sins. Think higher, Dwayne. Never rely on things of your world. They are unreliable and fading. There is an entire other reality that is eternal and completely trustworthy. It is the place where I dwell and where you will dwell with me. The unseen controls the seen. That is how it has always been. Never forget Who is in charge and Who secured your eternal salvation. Rejoice today that your name is written in heaven, where moth and rust cannot corrupt and humans cannot break in and steal. Rejoice that my Son loves you so much to shed his perfect blood for you. Give thanks that he was able to enter the Most Holy Place to purchase your soul forever. Rejoice–but also share this awesome truth with others you meet today.
What I said to God: Lord, I confess I don’t share my faith as often as I should. Please help me look for opportunities today to tell someone how much You love them and want them in heaven with You. Thank You for refreshing me and my team today here in Bulawayo at this beautiful outdoor coffee shop. I know this and all of heaven and earth will pass away. I know that Your Words stand forever. But for this day, I am grateful for the earthly blessings around me and for the heavenly redemption afforded me through the mercy and grace of my Father. I praise You and love You! Please protect our families while we are gone, and watch over and guide us as we travel tomorrow to Botswana and then on to Ethiopia and South Africa.
