Positive and Negative Influence

22. February 2013 Galatians 0

Text: Galatians 2:1-5
Theme: Leaders influence others–sometimes for good and sometimes for evil.
Key Verses: “…I first shared God’s truth privately with those who were people of influence and leadership because I thought if they did not embrace the freedom of my good news, then any work I had done for the Liberator here an any in the past would be spoiled” (v. 1-2). “Some people who were pretending to be our brothers and sisters were brought in to spy on the freedom we enjoy in Jesus…their agenda was clear: they wanted to enslave us. But we didn’t give in to them” (v. 4-5a)
What God said to me: Son, wake up. Not only are you sleepy in my presence this morning; you are also unworthy. You have rebelled. You have deliberately sinned against me. You know what you’ve done. Repent this morning. Wake from your slumber and be on guard over your heart and mind and family. I have set before you a potential opportunity. You must be fully alert to my voice and my guidance if you are to make the best decisions for your ministry and your family. Regarding this passage, I want you to notice a profound leadership principle: Leaders influence others. Accept that reality. Embrace it. Use it to strategically reach more people in my name. Paul did.
What I said to God: Holy Father and Master, I confess my going astray, my mind games and rebellious actions. Cleanse thou me of secret faults. Help me lead others wisely, looking for ways to first influence the influencers. Thank You for speaking to me today.
