Worshiping While Angry

01. February 2013 Galatians 0

Text: Galatians 1:3, 5-6
Theme: Even though Paul was angry with the Galatians, he still took time to worship God and bless them.
Key verses: “May the grace and peace of God…live in you” (v.3). “May God’s glorious name forever receive honor. Amen. Frankly I am stunned. I cannot believe the you abandoned God so quickly…” (v. 5-6a)
What God said to me: Dwayne, worship never gets a vacation. There’s never a time when you can leave your worship outside and just behave any way you want. Even though Paul was clearly upset and “stunned” by their behavior, still he took time to first of all focus on me. His heart was full of praise and adoration. He wasn’t bitter toward God or toward those people, for that matter. Love hopes all things and believes all things. He believed in their position in Christ and in who they were as believers. That was what he wrote about right out of the gate in the first few verses. As you go through your day and through your life, always keep your priorities in order. It’s fine–even at times needed–to be angry and to express your anger toward someone else. However, never allow your anger to overshadow your worship of me and your love of others.
What I said to God: Father, thank You for speaking clearly to my heart through Your Word today. I am humbled by Your instructions and by the fact that you even take time to direct and correct me when I seek You. How incredible Your love for me! Please protect my family today. May we all shine for You all day long.
