[...] Hey everyone, I thought you might enjoy this entry in my Quiet Time Journal from my devotion this morning. I am going through 1 Corinthians. Today’s passage was 12:4-6. The theme of today’s quiet time study is that the same God works through each of our individual gifts to accomplish His purpose. An excerpt is below. Thanks! ~ Dwayne What God said to me: You cannot please me more than to do what I have gifted you and intended for you to do. Man looks at various ministries and automatically assumes one is more important and more blessed than another. An evangelist may see thousands come to Christ while a faithful missionary may only see a few respond to his message. One pastor may see hundreds added to his congregation while another pastor - who is just as creative and full of faith - may see a fraction of that numerical growth. Jesus expressed this principle and reality in the parable of the sower. Some who sowed seeds saw a harvest of a hundredfold, but others saw only sixty or even thirtyfold. You see, Dwayne, in my economy, I do not determine your success based on your success in human terms of results. Click here to read this entire devotional entry. [...]

[...] Below is an excerpt from yesterday’s quiet time. Go here to read my entire journal entry from that quiet time. Text: Joshua 14-15 Theme: God gave specific boundaries to His children. Key verses: “Now these are the areas the Israelites received as an inheritance in the land of Canaan…Their inheritances were assigned by lot to the nine-and-a-half tribes, as the Lord had commanded through Moses.” (v. 1-2) “The allotment for the tribe of Judah, clan by clan, extended down to the territory of Edom…Their southern boundary started from the bay…(15:1-2) “The eastern boundary is the Salt Sea…The northern boundary started from the bay of the sea at the mouth of the Jordan. (v. 5) “The western boundary is the coastline…In accordance with the Lord’s command to him, Joshua gave to Caleb…a portion in Judah…” (v. 12-13) What God said to me: Son, this is a very simple but profound concept. There are supernatural boundary lines that I have placed in your life and the lives of your family. This is not a popular topic. My people enjoy the thought of limitless freedom - and so they should. What they must remember at all times, however, is that their limitless freedom is confined within the barriers of obedience and surrender to me… (Read entire journal entry) [...]

The righteous will live by faith, this is a theme that is repeated through out God’s Word but what does that mean?
Habakkuk shows us the unrighteous existence: puffed up, desire that are not up right, arrogant, betrayed by alcohol, greedy and never satisfied. All of these I must buried at my baptism and I must make sure I don’t exhume them again. When I leave these attitudes and actions buried then I take a step towards living by faith. Although I have to die daily to these unrighteous desires I’m amazed at what God gives me – life to the full, abundant, over flowing life, full of the Holy Spirit. When I see God’s provision for me it makes it easy to die to the unrighteous existence.
